London Heathrow to Seoul Incheon to Begin This Weekend

The long awaited route between London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) will take flight on Sunday, December 2, 2012.

British Airways has not only timed the flight to arrive at the start of the business day in Seoul, but has timed the departure and arrival at Heathrow to allow for smooth connections across the airlines’ domestic and short-haul European network. The flight will operate from BA’s Terminal Five at Heathrow.

While the route was announced initially announced back in May, the carrier has stated, “the airline is delivering on its promise to increase long haul flying to Asia following parent company, IAG’s, purchase of bmi.”

Fly to Seoul in Gangnam Style

A Boeing 777-200 will operate the flight six times a week. Customers can fly “Gangnam Style” in First Class and Club World, the airlines’ Business Class, plus World Traveler Plus (Premium Economy) and World Traveler (Economy) on the route.

For those curious, Gangnam, which has taken the world by storm, means “South of the River” and specifically refers to a hot, stylish upmarket district in Seoul.

Keith Williams, British Airways’ CEO, commented, “we couldn’t have foreseen the enormous response to the current Gangnam Style phenomenon when we announced the route. It is really helping to put Seoul on the map for UK travellers looking for an exciting and fun destination.”

The “Gangnam Style” hit by Psy has not only put Seoul on the map to UK travelers, but it has piqued the curiosity of travelers around the world.
