Fight on United 1214 between Raleigh-Durham and Chicago O’Hare

We’ve all seen countless reports of air rage, typically an unruly passenger who has had too much to drink. The golden era of aviation is now a part of history – today it’s cost cutting and fitting as many passengers into an aircraft as possible. When a passenger snaps, often they’re held down and turned over to law enforcement when the aircraft lands.

This time it wasn’t passengers who got into a spat, but two flight attendants on United Airlines flight 1214 from Raleigh-Durham (RDU) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) on the 26th of September. According to reports, a quarrel broke out between two flight attendants sharing a jump seat.

The pilot of the Boeing 737 returned to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) approximately 30 minutes after take-off.

The flight attendants were removed from the flight, but they were not arrested and no criminal charges have been filed. Replacement flight attendants were located and the flight was able to depart for Chicago over three hours behind schedule.

A passenger we spoke to, who wishes to remain unnamed, said United has promised a full refund.

Flight Attendants Quibble on American Airlines Flight

Ironically, this wasn’t the only recent brawl between flight attendants. This time it is American Airlines in the hot seat. American is already facing scrutiny over delays and cancellations as a result of unhappy pilots. Between sick calls and maintenance problems, flights on American are being delayed or cancelled. American has even reduced its flying schedule to cope with their labor problems.

It wasn’t the pilots on this particular flight, but the flight attendants. On September 20th, an American Eagle flight operated by a CRJ-700 regional jet was delayed on the ground at New York’s Kennedy Airport (JFK) after an altercation over a mobile phone.

American Eagle had to locate two replacement flight attendants for the 35 minute flight to Washington National Airport (DCA).
