Allegiant Says Aloha with new Hawaiian Flights

Allegiant Airlines recently announced new flights to Honolulu International (HNL) from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA) along with Boise (BOI) and Spokane (GEG). The flights will be operated with Boeing 757 aircraft and begin on February 8, 2013, from Phoenix and Spokane, while Boise service starts February 9, 2013.

Allegiant is a niche air carrier connecting smaller communities like Boise and Spokane with popular vacation hotspots such as the Hawaiian Islands. The low cost carrier operates on an a-la-carte basis where you pay for what you use such as carry-on luggage, checked baggage, and drinks/meals, but has proven popular in smaller communities because of their nonstop flights and bundled vacation packages which can be purchased with air, hotel, auto rental and/or hotel transfers.

In the Phoenix market, Allegiant goes head to head withHawaiian Airlineswhich operates three daily flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) to Honolulu International (HNL) with widebody aircraft including the Boeing 767 and Airbus A330.

Hawaiian also operates a nonstop from Phoenix (PHX) to Kahului (OGG) on the Island of Maui and their flights are on sale atHawaiianAirlines.com. The nonstop competition will help to keep fares competitive in the Phoenix market.

The Hawaiian Islands make a perfect getaway anytime of the year and each island is unique with its own eco-system and a wide variety of activities. The island of Oahu makes a good jumping off point to visit other islands via Honolulu International Airport (HNL) but also features the renowned Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head and it’s a shoppers paradise. Kauai, also known as the Garden Isle, is not only lush and green, but served as a backdrop for movies such as Jurassic Park along with the TV series “Lost.” Maui, the Valley Isle, is unique with Haleakala, a dormant volcano soaring over 10,000 feet, while the Island of Hawaii – the largest of the island chain – is home to Kilauea and Mauna Loa, both active volcanoes, towering high over the Pacific Ocean.

In response to the new flights by Allegiant Airlines, Mike McCartney, Hawai’i Tourism Authority president and CEO, said, “Allegiant’s entry into the Hawai’i market has opened up new gateway cities for the state.” McCartney continues, “We are pleased to welcome direct service from Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Wash. and look forward to supporting Allegiant’s service and promoting unique experiences for our guests to the Hawaiian Islands.”

Travelers to Hawaii can reach the different islands non-stop via the legacy carriers or transfer in Honolulu to a short inter-island flight. Visit Travelocity for Hawaii Vacation Deals
