ANA 787 Dreamliner to Arrive on Seattle – Tokyo Route

The new Seattle to Tokyo route has been launched by ANA, but with a Boeing 777 aircraft. After some teething problems with the Rolls-Royce Powered Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, ANA has announced the route will finally switch to the 787 Dreamliner on October 1, 2012. The flight will operate daily between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Tokyo-Narita (NRT).

This will be a first for Seattle-Tacoma Intl, as this flight marks the first regular passenger service at the airport with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. All Nippon Airways, ANA, was the 787 launch customer and Seattle was their first pick for 787 Dreamliner service to the United States.

Mark Reis, Managing Director of Sea-Tac Airport, said, “This will be an exciting day to see one of our region’s iconic products – the 787 – return to its home and directly serve travelers and businesses Boeing supports every day.” Reis added, “This reinforces Seattle’s status as a global gateway.”

Osamu Shinobe Senior Executive Vice President of ANA, said, “As the launch customer, ANA are proud that we can fly with the Boeing 787 to Seattle where the aircraft was manufactured.” Shinobe continued, “We expect our passengers will be able to enjoy comfortable flights based on ANA’s excellent services and Boeing’s fine airplane.”

Nerd Bird Two: Silicon Valley to Tokyo Nonstop via San Jose Intl

It has been many years since Silicon Valley has had a nonstop flight to Tokyo. Once upon a time, American Airlines operated this route, but the equipment used at the time was simply too large and the flight was not profitable.

The game changes on January 11, 2013, when ANA connects the two technology centers with the 787-8 Dreamliner.

Despite strong connections between Silicon Valley and Tokyo, those wishing to fly nonstop had to drive to San Francisco International Airport – a drive that could be long with stop and go traffic depending on time of day.

The flight between San Jose International Airport (SJC) and Tokyo-Narita (NRT) will operate with the 787-8 Dreamliner five days a week.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will both right-size the market and provide the required range without the requirement of a larger aircraft.

ANA Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Long-Haul Seat Map | Air Travel News

ANA operates their long-haul Boeing 787-8 fleet with a total of 158 seats. The seating configuration includes 46 seats in Business Class and 112 in Economy.

Travelers in Business Class will have full-flat seats which are setup in a manner so that each passenger has direct aisle access.

The new routes play a large role with ANA’s long-haul expansion plans, plus passengers will have easy connections onward to Nagoya, Sapporo and Fukuoka in Japan plus ANA’s international network to cities such as Hong Kong (HKG), Singapore (SIN), Shanghai (PVG) and Bangkok (BKK).

The Boeing 787 is a revolutionary aircraft made of composite materials – the composites make the aircraft lighter and the new engines, fuel efficient. The plane sports many creature comforts, has a spacious feel along with large windows, mood lighting, and it operates with a lower cabin pressure (approximately 7,000 feet above sea level) providing more humidity and reducing jet-lag.
