Washington National to Saint Louis Non-Stop on Southwest

Southwest Airlines made its debut at Washington National (DCA) on July 8th with the highly lucrative non-stop flight to Austin, Texas (AUS) — A close-in “downtown” location and direct access to the Washington, D.C. Metro System makes Washington National (DCA) the airport of choice for many in the DC area.

Nonstop flights to Saint Louis Lambert Field (STL) are next up starting September 30, 2012. Southwest secured an additional four slots, allowing for two round-trip flights – Washington National is not only slot controlled, but flights must operate within a 1,250 mile perimeter unless provided with a special outside perimeter exemption — such as the one Southwest obtained for it’s flights to and from Austin.

The Washington National (DCA) to Saint Louis (STL) nonstop flights mark the 34th Southwest destination from Saint Louis Lambert Field (STL). Not only does this provide more choice to customers in Saint Louis, but provides numerous flight connections from around the country to and from Washington National.

Southwest recently added Newark (EWR), Nashville (BNA), New Orleans (MSY), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Milwaukee (MKE), and Seattle (SEA) flights from Saint Louis (STL). To top things off, new flights between Saint Louis (STL) and both New York’s LaGuardia (LGA) and San Antonio (SAT) will begin on August 12th.

Unlike the legacy carrier’s, Southwest allows two checked bags — free of charge. The carrier also has great vacation packages — Check out Southwest Airlines Vacations’ destinations. Find affordable air/hotel packages to exciting destinations from coast to coast.

Nearby Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) is a focus city for Southwest Airlines and the carrier operates a mini-hub here with nonstop flights to most Southwest markets. However, depending on your location in the DC Metro Area it isn’t always the easiest airport to access.

On a final note, as Southwest Airlines continues its merger with AirTran Airways, new, exciting destinations, as well as new, nonstop flights will continue to be added to the Southwest network of flights.
