California Pacific Embraer-170 Twin-Jet Aircraft | Air Travel News

California Pacific Sets Up Shop at Carlsbad

California Pacific is based in Northern San Diego County at Mc Clellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad (CRQ), A fast growing area of sunny Northern San Diego County. Today, those who live in the North County must commute to San Diego International (SAN) – or hop a United Express flight to Los Angeles (LAX) from Mc Clellan-Palomar – Carlsbad (CRQ) Airport and work the hub and spoke system to ones destination.

The North County has proliferated in recent years and today is called home to more than 1.3 million residents. California Pacific’s goal is to operate flights from Mc Clellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad (CRQ) using state of the art Embraer-170 twin-jet aircraft. The First Embraer-170 is scheduled for delivery on July 10, 2012.

California Pacific’s plan is simple — to provide a convenient option for air travel in the North County. Passengers will have a more pleasant experience at Carlsbad Airport, avoiding the added time, hassle, and expense of driving to San Diego Lindbergh Field (SAN).

The carrier is waiting on DOT and FAA authorization to obtain the green light for its initial launch.

California Pacific Destinations

A timetable has yet to be put in stone, but the short list includes:

  • Sacramento (SMF)
  • Oakland Intl (OAK)
  • San Jose International (SJC)
  • Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Phoenix (PHX) and,
  • Cabo San Lucas – Los Cabos Intl Airport (SJD).

The Embraer 170 aircraft California Pacific will fly is a modern jet with wing mounted engines and 2×2 seating, everyone gets an aisle or a window seat – no middle seats! The seat width on these E-Jets will be the widest in the market, plus the E-170 provides ample overhead storage space. In fact, it offers up to 28% more total stowage volume per seat when compared to other similar capacity narrow-body jets.

As a result of the quickly growing North County, Founder, Ted Valles believes CP Air will rejuvenate the regional air system concept.

Speaking of the new carrier, Vallas, said, “Operations out of Carlsbad’s Palomar Airport will save North County residents (1) a typical three-hour roundtrip to San Diego’s Lindbergh Field, (2) a delay of ninety minutes standing in lines, clearing security, and preparing for flight, and (3) an average expense of $24 for parking.”

Parking at Carlsbad’s Palomar Airport is $5 per day.

When you depart from Carlsbad (CRQ), you’ll have neared or reached your destination in the time it takes to drive to San Diego’s Lindbergh Field (SAN).
