Sophisticated Underwear Bomb

A terror plot was foiled by the FBI and CIA to blow up a US Airliner headed towards the United States by a suicide bomber wearing an advanced, non-metallic underwear bomb according to US officials.

Officials will not say where the non-metallic underwear bomb was located, but most signs point to Yemen.  United States Government Officials have said there is no threat to aviation, which seems to indicate the terrorists are in custody.

Some reports, on the other hand, claim similar bombs allegedly exist but have yet to be located.  As this is an ongoing operation, very few details have been provided.

This is said to be a terrorist plot by Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula attempting to use an advanced device, compared to the one which failed on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.

Representative Peter King, Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, acknowledged on CNN that this has been a tightly held operation. King also said, “something about the timing raises questions.” when speaking of the leaked information.

This foiled threat is reportedly being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the FBI and CIA.

If and when more details become available, we will provide updates.
