Expanded Maui Schedule – Oakland & San Jose

Hawaiian Airlines has expanded its flight schedule to their new Kahului, Maui Hub (OGG) from Metropolitan Oakland Intl (OAK) and San Jose Int’l (SJC).  Both Oakland and San Jose are major airports in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and draw consumers from the East Bay (Oakland), as well as Silicon Valley in the South Bay region (San Jose).

The airline is offering a $498 round-trip fare sale from both Oakland and San Jose, along with free connections to Kauai, Hawaii Island, and Honolulu.

Glenn Taniguchi, Hawaiian’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, said, “Summer is just around the corner and we wanted to give travelers in the East Bay and South Bay even more reason to start dreaming about getting away to our beautiful islands and all there is to enjoy….We’re adding lots of flights in the heart of summer to make Hawaii more accessible to book a vacation.”

Para-sailing off of Maui Coastline | Air Travel News

The flights between Maui and Oakland / San Jose will be operated by a Boeing 767-300 widebody aircraft.  Passengers can relax and enjoy the extra space of the widebody jet which seats up to 264 passengers with twin aisles in a 2 x 3 x 2 cabin configuration.  Once on board you can relax and keep that credit card in your pocket — Hawaiian is the only carrier serving Hawaii to offer complimentary meals in Economy Class.

Between the Boeing 767-300 and Airbus A330 fleet, Hawaiian Air is the only airline using twin aisle, wide-body aircraft for all of its trans-Pacific flights to and from the Hawaiian Islands.  It’s common for other carriers to operate between the US mainland and Hawaii with Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 single-aisle aircraft.

Flights between the islands from Maui to Kauai, Hilo and Kona on Hawaii Island, and Honolulu are typically operated by the smaller Boeing 717-200 twinjet with a 2 x 3 passenger layout seating 123 passengers.

On a final note, Hawaiian offers their “Hawaii Flies With Us” on-board service program highlighting the Aloha Spirit throughout the flight.
