Cathay Pacific Starts Sale of Premium Economy

Cathay Pacific’s new Premium Economy Class is now for sale for flight departing after April 1, 2012.

In addition to providing a new, spacious seat and entertainment system, Cathay Pacific has specialized the entire customer experience.  To begin, the seat pitch is a generous 38 inches – six more than economy – and the seat has a greater recline; with the seat comes a large meal table, cocktail table, footrest, a 10.6 inch personal television, an in-seat power outlet, a multi-port connector for personal devices, and extra stowage space.

Premium Economy Passenger Benefits

On The Ground

  • Priority check-in at dedicated counters and priority boarding before economy;
  • An increase in baggage allowance from 20kg to 25kg (weight system) or two pieces from 23kg to 25kg each (piece system)

In The Air

  • Premium Economy Class provides more comfort and living space;
  • Passengers receive amenity kit with dental kit, socks, eyeshades, and earplugs;
  • Larger pillows and noise-cancelling headsets will be provided on-board
  • Pre-departure beverages
  • Personal bottle of water and additional snack choices to include more fresh fruit, energy bar, and dessert.

As the number of aircraft fitted with these new cabins increases, priority will be provided to achieving daily availability on these routes.

Additional markets later in the year include Adelaide, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and San Francisco in August.  Frankfurt is expected in September and Brisbane and Mumbai in October.   Additional continental Europe and long-haul routes will be slowly introduced after that.

By year end, Cathay Pacific plans on having 48 aircraft reconfigured with the new Premium Economy cabins.
