Washington National to Cincinnati and Des Moines

As US Airways’ focuses on building up their new, larger hub at Washington Reagan National Airport, two new routes are added to the schedule.  For a list of previously announced routes after the gate-swap, please see US Airways Announces New Washington National Routes.

Today, February 13, 2012, US Airways’ announced it will add nonstop flights between Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Intl (CVG) and Washington National (DCA) along with Des Moines (DSM) and Washington National.  US Airways will make further announcements as plans are made to operate into additional cities from National Airport.

These new nonstop flights provide travelers in Cincinnati and Des Moines easy access to Washington, D.C., as well as connections to other destinations on the east coast via US Airways’ Hub at Washington National Airport.

Andrew Nocella, US Airways’ senior vice president, marketing and planning, said, “Our new service from Cincinnati and Des Moines will provide a direct link to Washington, D.C. and connections to communities throughout the East Coast.”  Nocella continued, “As we continue to expand at Reagan National, we remain focused on connecting customers in communities of all sizes with our nation’s capital and providing them with convenient flight options and more travel choices.”

US Airways’ wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines will operate the daily Cincinnati (CVG) flights under the US Airways Express flag using 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ-200) aircraft.  The Cincinnati service will start on May 2nd, going to a full schedule the following morning.

The flights between Des Moines International Airport (DSM) and Washington National (DCA) will use the larger, Embraer 170 Regional Jet operated by Republic Airlines as US Airways Express.  Des Moines service will also begin on May 2, 2012, likewise going to a full schedule on May 3.

US Airways Express flights using larger aircraft, including the E-170 have first class installed.  The Cincinnati flight on the CRJ-200 will be an economy only service while the Des Moines flight will operate with a dual class setup.
