Iberia to Assist Spanair Passengers

Spanair Ceases Operations

Iberia is working with national government and Catalonian officials to assist Spanair passengers.  Iberia has developed contingency plan to help resolve this situation on the best of possible terms for Spanair customers.

For the next three days, Iberia will offer Spanair passengers special fares in markets where the two carriers coexist, depending on seat availability.

Fares will be as follows:

  • 60 Euros (plus airport tax) for domestic mainland and Balearic flights
  • 90 Euros (plus airport tax) for flights to/from the Canary Islands
  • 100 Euros (plus airport tax) for flights to and from other European countries

Passengers affected can obtain tickets via Iberia’s website www.iberia.com, at travel agents, or via an Iberia call center.  Iberia’s telephone sales number is 902 400 500 for calls within Spain.

Iberia requests passengers do not go to the airport until new tickets have been booked.

The airline will also comply with requests to operate extra flights on routes where demand exceeds supply, such as routes between Madrid and Barcelona, along with Bilbao, La Coruña and the Balearic and Canary Islands.

In a written statement, “Iberia regrets Spanair’s troubles and expresses its sympathy to all its staff at this difficult time.”
