Have a Free Drink on American
Travelers on American Airlines International services will soon see a reverse in cost cutting trends – free beer and wine, compliments of American Airlines returns on February 1st, as part of their inflight beverage service.
Often when air carriers go through bankruptcy, they’ll return with perks that were once taken away. As to how long the new perks will last will often depend on what the competition does and one day the new perk may set into the sun. With American in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, it’ll be interesting to see what other perks they do bring back, or at least attempt to bring back.
American Airlines is unique among the legacy carriers today in that they operate 3 class international services and in addition to the Admiral’s Clubs – the basic airline club – they provide a more upscale club known as the Flagship Lounges for first class customers and OneWorld Emerald’s flying internationally.
The employees who work the Flagship Lounges often have the ability to go the extra mile in helping a stranded passenger or providing arrangements regardless of why a flight is delayed or cancelled. Inside their lounges you can find a nice selection of drinks, including liquors, along with a food menu that changes through-out the way whether you’re at LAX, Chicago O’Hare, New York JFK, or Heathrow.
Customers traveling on American Airlines operated flights between the US and Europe, the US and Asia, and onboard long-haul flights between the US and Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uraguary, can raise their glass and say cheers! Customers on these flights can choose from a variety of complimentary beer and wine options, but Liquor will be available for purchase, as it is today, unless you’re lucky enough to be in First or Business Class.
Selections of wines will vary, but include red and white wines selected by American’s wine consultant Ken Chase and they’re looking to broaden the selection of beers available.
