Porter Airlines of Toronto will soon begin service between Washington Dulles International (IAD) and Toronto’s City Airport (YTZ) – the service is slated to begin on April 16th with up-to three daily-round trip flights.

“Greater Washington is a region that our passengers have told us is their number one priority for new Porter service,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “We expect great interest for both business and leisure trips and look forward to bringing competition to the route.”

Porter Airlines will operate Canadian-built Bombardier Dash-8 Q 400 turboprop aircraft on the route, which will be its 6th US destination.  Despite the fact Toronto City Airport has no US pre-clearance facilities, it is often rated among the best urban airports in the world. Its proximity to downtown makes accessing the city simple and convenient.

Jack Potter, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said, “We are looking forward to welcoming Porter Airlines to our family of airlines providing extensive international service to the Greater Washington Metropolitan Region. Porter will provide new convenient service to downtown Toronto and throughout Canada for our region. Dulles International Airport is the international gateway not only to Washington, but also to a significant part of the eastern seaboard, and this new air service from this leading Canadian business destination will be a great addition.”

Several other cities in Canada will also benefit by access to Dulles via a simple connection at Toronto City Airport.

Porter is a unique airline based out of Toronto’s Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).  The airport is located on the Toronto Islands in the center of the city providing convenience to travelers wishing to avoid Toronto’s Person International Airport (YYZ).  Additional Porter destinations include Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, Halifax, St. John’s, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Timmins, Windsor, New York (Newark), Chicago (Midway), Boston (Logan), and the carrier has seasonal flights to Mt. Tremblant, Que., Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Burlington, Vermont.
