WestJet Begins NonStop Seasonal Hawaii Flights

Canada’s Low Cost Carrier, WestJet, has started its non-stop seasonal service to Hawaii this week.  The inaugural flight from Calgary to Kahului, Maui departed on December 15.

The seasonal flights will use a Boeing 757-200 twin-jet aircraft leased from Thomas Cook.  The 757-200 is larger than the 737’s that WestJet primarily operates and provides additional range for the flights.  Despite the lease, the flight will operate with WestJet flight attendants and provide WestJet service.

WestJet will continue their non-stop flights between the Hawaiian islands and Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, using their twin-jet Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft and passengers may connect onward to the WestJet Canadian network from Vancouver (YVR).

Weekly Frequency (from December 15, 2011 to April 21, 2012):

  • Calgary to Honolulu – Friday
  • Honolulu to Calgary – Friday
  • Calgary to Maui – Monday, Thursday, and Saturday
  • Maui to Calgary – Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday
  • Edmonton to Maui – Wednesday, Sunday
  • Maui to Edmonton – Tuesday and Saturday

One way fares between Alberta and Hawaii start at $279, plus taxes, fees, and surcharges.  Flight to/from the Island of Maui use the main airport located in Kahului, Maui.
